(typical lurker popping up out of nowhere)
Been putting together emulations for a month or two... Kind of been skeptic about sharing one of these here, with this one being from two hours ago.
Emulation for the Pittsburgh Area (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpRjHICLqTY#)
Still a couple of things to fix in this; the powerpoint file itself is still rough without the "bar" at the bottom, and I might be able to add that soon, hopefully. :hmm:
Constructive criticism is always appreciated.

Emulation for the Dallas Metroplex - (09/26/14) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XDA_pLM6Co#)
After constantly going and redesigning the emulator, I've managed to make it a little more "simple."
Also, icons.
And a couple of other things from earlier this year:
Icy Weather Plows Through North Texas - (3/02/14) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHDAkDIWv0A#)
Supercell Thunderstorms Move Through the Dallas Metroplex - (04/03/14) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaYJP5ryCbs#)
Gonna keep working on it, but this is what I've got so far.
-
I really like this, nice work! I'm from the Pittsburgh area too! (Butler)

Might eventually get to the previous version of the Intellistar, but this will remain as a start for the time being.

Intellistar Emulation for KTKI - (14.03.2015) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LMeWp4GZhA)
Might eventually get to the previous version of the Intellistar, but this will remain as a start for the time being.
Song: We Are Free - Ryan Farish
How do you make the icons animate and where did you get the backgrounds from? i might try making one someday!

Tweaked one or two things, and switched out the two CC segments in the beginning.
And why not Saint Martin/Sint Maarten for a change?

Still need to tweak a few things, but I do like how this came out.

A line of thunderstorms brought rain to the Dallas metroplex, including a tornado for the Denton area.

Just now starting to revamp the icons with Vegas, and hopefully I can retire from having to use animated GIF files for this stuff. The icons present are what I have done so far.

That cold front is going to be here soon, and it's going to be quite windy. :hmm:

That's awesome! :) How do you make these?

That's awesome! :) How do you make these?
I used to do these through Microsoft Powerpoint 2010 for the longest time before temporarily switching to Sony Vegas. Instead of having the icons as .gif files, I started rendering them as transparent .mov files through Vegas, which also helped with the transition to After Effects. :)
And putting these together in AE is a lot easier than doing them in Powerpoint.

Can I ask where you got the icons and radar screens? Did you make them yourself? Yeah I know what you mean on the literal 'project' it
is really is making a complete emulation in powerpoint. I can't tell you how to ch of of a struggle making mine are.

The radar map was created in Photoshop using both state/county and road maps.
The icons can be retrieved here: http://s122.photobucket.com/user/weatherstooge/library/TWC%20Icons%20-%201998-2006?sort=4&page=1 (http://s122.photobucket.com/user/weatherstooge/library/TWC%20Icons%20-%201998-2006?sort=4&page=1)
As for the animated icons, they were not retrieved from a specific location. Instead, they were created using the icons linked above for either parts or references. For example, the "sunny" icon is made up of three separate .png files that were drawn up in Photoshop and animated in Sony Vegas:

The process of animating these icons took a few days to a week to complete due to time contraints and frustration, but it was definitely worth it in the end.

Awesome job!

Wanted to emulate NYCTWCjunkie's design of the Intellistar and experiment with having the LDL done in After Effects.
A few things are still rough. The current temperature still needs to be added onto the slot of the LDL where the current time is displayed, and the exit animation for the air quality product needs to be added. I'm also considering in adding more frames for the regional/local radar so that it looks less choppy.

I don't mean to jump back on this but do you have more templates of the icons?
I made it into a .gif so you can see.

Relocated to the Oklahoma City area, and coincidentally a cold front was coming through right when I finished making the new maps. ;)

Updated a few of the fonts in the After Effects project file, but I still have to go back and redo the interstate numbers on the radar maps.
Also, tried out a "VHS tape" effect on the previous emulation:

How are you getting the rain to go over the city labels without totally blocking them out? I can't figure it out in After Effects.
-
Tried my best to replicate the second version of the national/satellite feed. Still wondering if I should create maps for the satellite loop.

The radar images for my emulations are put together in Photoshop, so I'm not necessarily sure if the same would apply to here.
What I do is copy the layer with the city names in it and put it above the radar layers and set it to "Overlay" with the shadow layer below it.

I must say, you've done a fantastic job recreating that. (I'm almost positive that's the only recreation of that type of satellite forecast I've ever seen!)

Thank you! :)
I was intrigued by the design of the earlier satellite forecasts, and the second version was my first choice to emulate. I'm thinking of also emulating the first version too, with the first version of the stills of the WeatherSTAR XL icons and all.

Been watching these as they come out lately, I love your take on the v1 IntelliStar graphics. Keep it up!
-
I do as well. Keep up the good work

Currently in the process of trying to figure out a more efficient method of implementing IR satellite imagery into the map. The northern part of the system is barely visible, so it won't be until Wednesday or Thursday when I can get better imagery.

Fantastic job, especially on that Hurricane Delta graphic! That header is pretty true to the real thing
-
Still trying to work out the IR image loop, but I’ll get it smoothed out soon. I did try to give it a VHS-ish feel to it (and reduced the video quality to make it look more authentic).
