My PPT Emulator of the Intellistar 2
« on: January 05, 2011, 04:57:37 PM »
Not exactly the best (or the same) as the Intellistar 2, but I could not find an icon pack or anything for the IS2, I guess since it is so new. If anybody could give me some tips and pointers, please do so!

SkyStar i2/Intellistar 2 Emulator

Please message me if you would like to be a beta tester.

Releasing the v2 Intellistar 2 emulator to public soon.
Will not include radar on side, but instead a WUWA advertisement.

Please feel free to move this topic if it is not in the correct area.

I've finished development on the Intellistar 2 Emulator! This is the public version.
Note: This is a Powerpoint, keep in mind I am a beginner at creating emulators.

Try it out and tell me what you think of it!

*NOTE: I have included 2 bumper screens, slide 2 is the Local ID and slide 3 is the TWC | HD splash*
The music is the storm alert file played during hurricanes, or right before a landfall.

Feel free to post videos of this emulator online, as well.

If you have this in a streaming video (such as on YouTube) somewhere, I'll be glad to look at it.  However, I don't download videos (or anything) from unfamiliar sources.

Emulator boots up at 2:35. I have commentary on it before the bootup and then after it finishes.

I'm assuming this is your first try at emulating the Intellistar 2, and it looks good for your first attempt. I'd like to give you a few suggestions on how to improve it; these suggestions come from what I did with my emulator.

This list is a little long, so hold in there.
- The key code for the degree symbol is Alt 0176. If you can't do that, PPT 2007, which I assume is what you're using, has the degree symbol.
- If you want to animate your radar, go to your regions 1800 Doppler and animate it. Save every frame that comes up (there should be 5), and number them in order. Then, put all the images on top of each other in the powerpoint, and set the animations so they alternate, like a radar would. .4 seconds between images should do the trick.
- With the Hourly Forecast tab, I would make all of that stuff come in all at once, and instead of peeking in, make it fade with a speed of .2 seconds.
- The 36-hour forecast looks really good. Don't change it.
- For Air Quality, I'd visit www.airnow.gov for current values and levels. It's a bit more accurate than the Weather Channel's map.
- With the 4-Day Forecast, once again, I'd get everything to fade in at once.

If you'd like, I can send you a few things from my PPT for you to use. Overall, the presentation looks good. None of the suggestions I made are necessary, and I'm not telling you to use them. I just gave them to help further improve your presentation.

I added the degree symbol,
I didn't add the animated radar, but will in a later (or soon) update, fixed the 36hr and 4d forecast pages, and just went ahead and removed the air quality page because it is not included in the LF, at my current knowledge.
Thanks for the tips. Re-packing the Emulator and re-releasing it.

What were those "things" from your Powerpoint?
