I'll be posting some videos of shows from late November 2003 here. I already posted this Overnight Outlook video in another topic:

Now, here are some videos of Evening Edition from Wednesday, November 5...
Here's a video from the start of the show. Notice how the show still had a format back then <_<, and notice how the LF aired in between two studio segments, just like on A&B today, but the LF was only 1 minute on EE back then. Also, notice that Jim Cantore was using what ought to be the very first installation of SkyTracker, and of course notice that Jim Cantore still had a little bit of hair on his head.

Here's another video from the second segment of the show that features the Forecast to Go. I never realized the Forecast to Go existed after the 2003 relaunch until I found this video. I had always assumed that the Travel segment on EE became the "TWC Travel Forecast" upon the relaunch; apparently that's not the case. Is it me, or does the start of the Forecast to Go music sound reminiscent of the 2001-2004 CNN Headline News music? After all, both packages were created by Stephen Arnold Music.

These are great Steven! Got any more? :thrilled:
-
Sure, I just have to run the VHS tapes through the DVD recorder. I believe I have Afternoon Outlook and PM Edition from that same day coming up next.
I should also get around to the 2001 stuff, as well. I have six tapes from that fall that I've found so far, including one of Mike Bono's final appearances on TWC (working alongside Melissa Tuttle).
-
Wow, that sounds great! Can't wait! :sunglasses:
-
Wait Steve, you use a DVD recorded to transfer tapes to the computer and not a tuner?
-
He probably has a 2-in-1 unit. You put the VHS in on the VHS side, and put a blank DVD in on the DVD side and record while the VHS is playing.

NEAT!! I should try this method then.
-
At last check, though, those 2-in-1's were relatively expensive.

i hope Best Buy carries them then. So its a combo DVD/VHS recorder/player?
-
I'm certain that Best Buy carries them. And yes, its a combination VHS player/DVD recorder.
-
At last check, many VCRs/DVD recorder combos were at least $200.
-
Yeah, that's why I asked for it for Christmas. Getting it otherwise would probably be difficult. :)
Prior to this Christmas, I used a regular DVD recorder and had to run cables from the VCR to the DVD recorder; that's why I never really posted my old VHS recordings before.

I can understand why you didn't post your VHS recordings. That's alot to go through.
-
So can i use a blank DVD and record the lf with a DVD recorder?
The you would insert the DVD to the compjuter?
-
Yup, you got it. :sunglasses:

Ok, here we go with AO and PME.
Here's the 4 PM CT segment of Afternoon Outlook from Nov. 5, 2003; an LF precedes it.

Here's the 5 PM CT segment of PM Edition from the same day. Again, an LF precedes it.

Interesting. I didn't know that master control used the PM Edition winter opener back then. :o Ever since 2004, AFAIK, they always used the summer opener, even in the winter.

Thanks for the clips, Steve. The AO teasers you have posted seemed to have used different music than what I have from 2005, and the graphics look a little different too (on my video, the transparent bars along the left moved back and forth, and the bar on the bottom doesn't animate, and is a bit brighter).
-
IIRC, they used two different music clips for the teaser all throughout that graphics package's duration. I think the one you speak of was more common. Even during the 2005-2006 package, they used two different clips of music for whatever reason. I never knew that the actual graphic changed, though I do think that the sidebar is animating to some extent, but it might be less than the graphic's final iteration. I wish I knew where my 2005 tapes were.

Thanks so much for the clips Steve! :sunglasses:

Hang in there. I don't see the clips. It's just the audio :(
