I wanna say the late 90's, but I'm not really sure.

I thought he died sometime between 1996 and 1998, but I don't think I've ever actually seen a date.  That's just the general time period when I learned he had "recently" died.

Lightning:
I know he retired from TWC in 1996. Late 90s sounds about right.
